Report on housing and maintenance of refugees

Draft report regarding housing and maintenance of refugees in Banagher. Report tells of arrangements for making subscriptions 'we estimate that no liability will be thrown upon the central funds in respect of these refugees at any rate not until towards the end of the year. He also notes that there are gifts in kind from the farmers of Banagher neighbourhood.

Letter from Stephen Flannery of Flannery & Co., motor engineers of Nenagh and Roscrea to Theodora Trench: 'I have received the paper from the Red Cross, and have filled in same, and returned to them.' Also includes a New Zealand mechanical transport manual used to record mileage, routes and journey lengths; Red Cross clothes patterns including male assistant's coat or overalls, gentleman's nightshirt, nurses apron, dressing gown; driving permit; meal voucher card for journey from from Walton to Cloughjordan 14/7/18 - 19/8/18; certificate of enrolment in a voluntary aid detachment; and permit to wear the Red Cross uniform.

The collection consists of 54 bound volumes including letter books, client account ledgers, and cashbooks. The largest series is the letterbooks, which contain carbon copies of outgoing letters sent by Rogers & Co., Solicitors. It is not a full set, with letterbooks from 1916–26 and 1928–30 not extant. Other shorter gaps in the sequence also appear. All letterbooks contain an alphabetical surname index of clients. The rest of the collection is more financial in nature, consisting of series of cash ledgers, client account ledgers, cheques issued ledgers, a costs copying volume and a daybook recording daily work for current clients.

This collection is comprised of the records of Patrick Moore & Sons, Victuallers of Edenderry and Rathangan. They were a family business who sold meat to the surrounding towns including Edenderry, Rathangan, Allenwood, Clonbulloge, Enfield, Kinnegad and Rhode. The collection includes ledgers, cash books, stock books, daily order books and van sales books. There are also documents regarding financial accounts such as bank account books, customer account books, bills of account with local traders, Dublin traders and a trader from Manchester. Also includes documents of their accounts with other businesses and legal costs as well as personal family photographs. A note in ledger P1/C/17 from 1923 recounts that Judge Wakely's house, Ballyburly, near Rhode, was 'burned by irregulars' in 1923.
