War Pensions Committee Memoranda Book

War Pensions Committee ms Memoranda Book containing draft and copy letters from R. H. Moore Hon. Secretary of Banagher Local War Pensions Committee. Letters chiefly relate to recommendations for acceptance of pension applications and arrangements for the completion of medical reports on applicants.
Contains also requests by Moore for payment for his work carried out on the committee. Letter of 9th May 1918 records the securing of three rooms in Banagher Technical School for the accommodation of Belgian refugees.

Application from P. J. Molloy for his parents

Ms letter to Banagher Local Pensions Allotment Board from P. J. Molloy regarding the grant paid to his mother. Letter states that both his parents are ill and unable to survive on the present grant of 9s 2d. With annotation from Major Rogers endorsing the application.

Annual Report 1915

Annual report, accounts and rental for year end June 1915, in which Digby describes in detail the events surrounding the Geashill Cattle Drive on the grasslands of Ballydownan in November 1914. Describes the bands and banners accompanying the drive, the injuring of several policemen, and the arrest of 46 men who subsequently pleaded guilty at the Winter Assizes in Dublin. Also notes that despite the jailing of the ring-leaders, agitation continued and boycotting and intimidation on the estate were rife. Also notes that inspection of the boundaries of the estate has been completed by the Land Commission but that the final inspection has yet to be made.
