Death Notice Book (1913-1947)

Register recording deaths in the workhouse (1913-1921) and the county home and hospital (1922-1947) in one continuous volume of entries. On the closure of the workhouse in 1921, the register template was amended from 'Workhouse' to 'Offaly County Hospital and Central Home' to finally 'Offaly County Hospital and Home'. Abstracts of Accounts (1922-42)

Half yearly series of accounts, with many gaps, for Offaly County Board of Health, incorporating Forms 49a, 49b and 50.

Form 49a contains revenue accounts describing the various charges on the County Council; average weekly costs; loan, receipt and expenditure account (including the cost for 'orphans and deserted children boarded-out'); loan accounts of the county board of health for the half-year; and a statement of balances at the close of the half-year.

Form 49b records the number and classification of persons assisted during the half year in terms of those admitted to the county home or hospitals, those receiving home assistance; persons with disabilities; and persons sent to extern hospitals.

Form 50 records the the names and salaries of the several officers, names and superannuation allowances of retired officers; names of intern officers (such as the Superintendent, assistant matron, nurses, cook, ambulance driver etc.), names of extern officers (such as the Chaplains, the Surgeon, the Medical Officer of Health, medical officers of the dispensary districts, dispensary midwives), and those working in the district hospitals.

File of letters sent to Henry Trench between 1853 and 1865.

The majority of the letters within the file concern Henry's son Henry Bloomfield Trench. It appears Henry Bloomfield suffered from an illness which caused fainting and fitting. Much of the letters deal with this issue. Examples include two letters dated from John Congreve regarding Henry Bloomfield Trench fitting and his recovery during his stay with him. The file also includes three letters from J.R Pears, Windlesham regarding a fainting fit that occurred while Henry Bloomfield Trench was away at school. Other letters concerning this issue within this file describe Henry Trench attempts to find a suitable school for his son. Examples of such letters include a letter dated 14 July from F.G Price, Munderfield, Bromyard, England accepting Henry as a pupil.
