Documents relating to aspects of Moore's life in Banagher. Moore was involved in many committees in the town. These fall into two categories in this collection, namely improvements to the local economy and infrastructure and those that responded to outside events such as the First and Second World Wars. The improvement committees were Banagher Improvement Association/Committee (c.1899-1928), Banagher Fairs and Improvement Committee (1907-1928), Banagher Public Lighting Committee (1907-1912) and Banagher and Lusmagh Farmers Association (1929-1930). The other committees responded to WWI and WWII were The Garrycastle Relief Committee (1914-1915), the War and Pensions Committee (1917-1919) and the Parish Council (1941-c.1945).

Some other organisations mentioned are the Banagher Bicycle Association, the Gaelic League and the Banagher Sacred Heart Sodality which all proved extremely popular.

Minute Book (1940-41)

Includes:
Recommendation of the establishment of a First Aid Service under the Local Security Force as a result of the break out of World War II, as it will be expected that the Board of Health will place its transport and personnel at its disposal. The Board further resolves to clean and disinfect the old infirmary building and lay on electric light and water in the event of an emergency (July 1940).

Correspondence relating to the delay in building works for the County Hospital featuring the contractors, Phoenix Building Works, and the architect, Michael Scott.

Banagher Sewerage Scheme

File of correspondence between Banagher Parish Council, Offaly County Board of Health and Department of Local Government and Public Health, in relation to the installation of a sewerage scheme at Banagher and the provision of wartime employment.
Includes Ms list of 23rd January 1941 of persons prepared to connect with the water mains. With copy of Sanitary Sub-Officers Report.
Includes also ms resolution of Banagher parish Council stating that the sanitation in Banagher requires immediate attention.

T. S. Duggan - provision of fire appliances

Letter from Thomas S. Duggan, County Surveyor, to the Secretary, Banagher Parish Council regarding the provision of fire appliances for the town of Banagher and stating that nothing can be done until money is available.

T. J. Kelly - Convention of Parish Councils under de Valera

Letter from T. J. Kelly, County Commissioner for Offaly to the Secretary of each Parish Council notifying of the visit of Eamon de Valera to Tullamore to hold a convention of Parish Councils with reference to fuel and food production.

Offaly Board of Health - food production

Typed memoranda from Offaly County board of Health with regard to the boards role in ensuring that as much foodstuff as possible is home produced. Requests that Parish Councils ascertain the number of labourers who desire to cultivate allotments and the amount of land available.

J. F. Mahon - land for applicants

Typed letter from J. F. Mahon, Secretary, Offaly County Board of Health stating that it is not possible to send down a man to search for suitable land for allotments.
