Minute book containing minutes of meetings held by Offaly Southern Committee, mainly held in various locations in Birr, detailing election of officers, arrangement of fixtures, decisions on tournament permits, objections raised by clubs in relation to outcomes of matches and other matters. Also contains a letter from the Leinster Council to the Secretary of Offaly GAA, English Hotel, Birr in relation, among other things, to the application of the Parish Rule in the reinstatement of players who were in the British Army. Also includes details of Gaelic Sunday, 5 August 1918, which was organised by the GAA nationwide 'to demonstrate their right to play their games without permit from the English Government authorities.'

Includes letters from Toler Garvey Jr relating to the occupation of Birr Castle by the Free State Army during December 1922 and January 1923. Also contains letters concerning the finances of the Birr Castle estate, theft of silver from Thomastown Park, the execution of three youths on Birr Castle grounds by the occupying Free State Army, and a compensation claim to the OPW in February 1923.

Records decisions in relation to medical personnel based at various dispensaries throughout the county, and proposals relating to the treatment of TB patients. Also contains reports of new tenders granted for the supply of goods to the county home and some letters of protest about contracts being awarded to new suppliers in ' a ringing of the changes in certain interests.' (see p55, letter to the committee re Contract for the Supply of Bread, 28 October 1921.'

Includes regular matron's reports from the county home and hospital with medical details of patients. Also includes a report by the Visiting Committee (James O'Connor, Teresa Wyer and Mary K. Dunne) on the state of the county home following Amalgamation (p16, 23 July 1922).

Contains details of 'boarded-out' children such as their names and ages, and the names and addresses of their foster parents.
