Letters from Irish prisoners-of-war in internment camps in Germany, mainly Limburg, to Lady Rosse either requesting assistance in the form of parcel aid or thanking her for parcels received. Prisoners are predominately from the Irish Guards but other regiments feature also.
Envelope of leases of premises in Dublin City and County, principally the Stephen’s Green house of the 1st Earl of Rosse (1736 and 1760), the lease of which was assigned by his widow to the 2nd Earl in 1809; and the 2nd Earl’s own house (when Sir Laurence Parsons, 5th Bt) in Rathmines Road (1790-91). Letters and papers, mostly of the 4th and 5th Earls and Dr Otto Boeddicker, concerning Parsons family history and genealogy, including information about the Oxmantown/Phoenix Park property, sold by the elder branch of the Parsons family to the crown in 1672. Of particular interest is a paper entitled ‘How the Parsons, Earls of Rosse, got the Titles of Baron and Viscount of Oxmantown’.
