Lease of Clonmore to Joseph Grundy

Lease and a draft lease for part of the lands of Clonmore from Henry Earl Digby to Joseph Grundy for three lives from 1 September 1792, at the yearly rate of £13-12-4.
Including 'A map of the lands of Clonmore in the Parish of in the Barony of Geashill and King's County the Estate of The Right Honourable Henry Lord Digby now in the tenure of John Gundy in 1786 by Pat and John Roe', hand coloured, scale of 20 Perches to an Inch, bordering land leased to M. John Purcell, Joseph Flanigan and Colgan.

Lease of Cappancur to William and Pilkington Commons

Lease and two draft leases for part of the Lands of Cappanacur from Henry Earl Digby to William and Pilkington Commons for three lives from 25 July 1792, at the yearly rate of £14-4-9.
Including 'A map of Part of the lands of Cappincur in the King's County the Estate of The Right Honourable Henry Lord Digby let to William Commons and Pilkington Commons Containing 33.2.00. Surveyed in 1775 by Pat Roe', hand coloured, scale of 40 Perches to an Inch, bordering land leased to James Monick and William Watson.

Irish Grants Committee Correspondence

Copy correspondence between the Irish Grants Committee and Lord Digby regarding his application to the Committee made on 20 December 1926 for the destruction of Geashill Castle and subsequent looting of timber from his woods. In a letter to A&L Goodbody Solicitors, the Irish Grants Committee requested supporting evidence and material in support of each item of the claim (26 April 1927), to which they were sent 4 copies of the bills of quantitates and 4 copies of the original declaration in the case (17 May 1927). A certificate of valuation of the lands of Bawnmore and Dalgan, Geashill was also provided by James Morris, Auctioneer and Valuer in support of the claim, suggesting that the value of this claim should be amended to £952.10 instead of £750. (13 October 1927). The Irish Grants Committee recommended that Lord Digby should be paid a sum of £3000 ex gratia in respect of his claim (23 December 1927). The final amount of the £3000 grant was approved on 15 March 1929.

This application was submitted following a judge's ruling that Lord Digby would only be entitled to market value of the premises. The application made to the Irish Grants Committee is for £22,030.12.10.

Following his death, the trustees of his will were bequeathed the proceeds of sale of lands in Ireland agreed to be sold through the Irish Land Commission. Includes schedule of particulars of buildings and lands of Lord Digby's King's County estate which contain detailed lists of occupiers, acreage and tenure of interest.
