Reports on repairs to Bogshane Pump; cleaning of sewers at Clara; quality of the water at Killeigh; compensation for criminal injury in respect of malicious destruction of thatched cottage and crops in Geashill; proposed sewerage schemes for Kilcormac; repairs to cottages after storm damage; and water supply for Ballyduff.

Also records a deputation from Birr Urban Council in reference to transferring the county home to Birr and keeping Birr workhouse in order – Commissioner O'Keefe replied that there was no intention of transferring the county home to Birr.

Reports on the proposed extension of Walsh Island, Bracknagh and Cloncrane burial grounds; tenders for the maintenance of burial grounds at Kilclonfert, Killaderry, Ballycon, Croghan Hill, Cappincur, Coolgegan, Cappincur, Ballinakill, Monasteroris, Drumcooley, Ballymacwilliam, Bracknagh, Shean, Cloncrane, Garr, Kilbride (Clara), Kilbride (Tullamore), Lynally, Cloneyhurke, Ballykeane, Annaharvey, Ballina, and Killoughey; the purchase of a new site at Daingean for a cemetery; free milk schemes for the supply of milk to the children of persons in receipt of home assistance and other necessitous children; new schools at Meelaghans and Moneygall, Rashina, Pullough and Shannonbridge as old schools were condemned; and the transfer of the Offaly County Venereal Disease Scheme to the office of the County Medical Officer of Health.

County Home Records

Several subseries of registers recording the admission and discharge of individuals to the county home in the period 1914-1957. The earliest register in this series was opened in 1914, and can also be viewed as the last register for the Tullamore Workhouse, which closed in 1921.

Volumes recording details of residents admitted to the county home, the first of which dating from 1914, predates the establishment of the county home in 1921 and can therefore also be viewed as the last workhouse register for Tullamore Workhouse.

Data collected in this unbroken run of registers (Form 29) varied slightly from volume to volume but generally contained the following:

Admission number (and previous admission number if any)

Date of admission or birth

Name of inmate

Age, Sex

Description (Married, Single, etc.) or 'If adult whether single, married, widow or widower; if child, whether orphan, deserted, illegitimate or legitimate'

Religious denomination

Residence prior to admission

Name and address of nearest relative and description of relationship

Observations on condition of inmates when registered.

Employment or Calling

Number of dependents

Disease or other cause rendering admission necessary

Who gave recommendation for admission

Date of discharge or death
