Johnston, Charles Edward

Charles Edward Johnston, the third child of Charles Bolton Johnston (1802-1830) and Charlotte Jane Shaw (1809-1890), was born in 1832.
He died in 1900.

Charles Johnston, son of William Johnston MP (1829-1902), was born 17 February 1867. He studied Oriental Studies, Sanskrit, Russian, and German. He attended school with William Butler Yeats and George Williams Russell, with whom he founded the Hermetic Society of Dublin on 16 June 1885. He later introduces Yeats to Madame Blavatsky. Charles Johnston went on to join the Theosophical Society, and cofounded the Theosophical Lodge in Dublin in 1886. During his life he was also President of the Irish Literary Society.

On October 1888, Charles Johnston married Vera Vladimirovna de Zhelihovsky (1864-1923), the neice of Helena Blavatsky. He also entered the Indian Civil Service in 1888, and later served in the British Bengal Service.

Charles Johnston died in 1931.

Hoey, John Cashel

John Baptist Cashel Hoey, the eldest son of Cashel Fitzsimons Hoey, of Dundalk, County Louth, was born 25 October 1828. He attended St Patrick's College, Armagh. From 1849-57 he was the editor of The Nation newspaper. On 6 Feb 1858 he married widow Frances Sarah Stewart. In 1861 he was called to the bar at Middle Temple. From 1865-78 he was the sub editor for the Dublin Review. He the Agent General in London for the state of Victoria, Australia from 1872-3. The following year he became secretary to the Agent-General for New Zealand, which he remained until 1879. In 1880 he became secretary to the London committees for the Melbourne International Exhibition until 1888. During his life he became a Knight of the Order of Malta, the contemporary continuation of the medieval Knights Hospitaller of Jerusalem. John Cashel Hoey died in London on 7 Jan 1892.

Lamb, William, LLD

William Lamb LL D, second son of Francis Lamb and Catherine Harford, was born 19 Nov 1828. In 1873 married Alice Ann Kerr, daughter of William Pattison Kerr DD. They had two children, the first died in infancy, and the second was Francis William John Alexander Lamb, born 8 June 1874. William Lamb LL D died in 1899 and was burried at Mount Jerome Cemetery, Dublin.

Gamble, George Francis, Major

George Francis Gamble was born 21 June 1837. He married Florence Gamble. From 1854-72 he served in the Royal Marine Light Infantry. He left the Marines at the rank of Major, and went on to write several manuals on military commands and exercises. In 1884, his daughter, Cléonice Gamble was born. After his military career, Major George Francis Gamble worked as the registrar and secretary of Mount Jerome Cemetery for forty years. Major George Francis Gamble died 22 Feb 1912. One of his grandsons attended the funeral of George Bernard Shaw in 1950.

Madelaine Harriet Johnston, the seventh child of Charles Bolton Johnston (1802-1872) and Charlotte Jane Shaw (1809-1890), was born in 1843. She never married, and died 8 May 1922.

Badham, Georgina Emma Alexander

Georgina Emma Alexander Bell, second daughter of Frances Georgina Armstrong (1841-1911) and John Alexander Bell (1866-1944), was born 28 September 1866 in Queensland Australia. She was the granddaughter of Sir Andrew Armstrong, 1st Baronet of Gallen (1754-1827). On 7 Nov 1895 she married Robert Leslie Badham (1859-1989), nephew of Dame Nellie Melba, in Booterstown, Dublin, Ireland. On 22 September 1896, their first child, Emily Frances G. Leslie Badham, was born in Blackrock, County Dublin. On 10 January 1899, their second and final child, Robert Alexander Armstrong Badham, was born. Georgina "Nina" Badham died in Manchester, England in 1944.

Georgina Badham was somehow related to the Lamb Family. There are connections between the Fuller family and both the Bell and Armstrong families during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. On the back of a her framed photograph, she is referred to as Cousin Nina, however it is unclear who wrote this inscription. At present he direct link between Georgina Bell and the Lamb Family of Woodfield house is unclear.
