      <p>This collection is comprised of the records of Patrick Moore &amp; Sons, Victuallers of Edenderry and Rathangan. They were a family business who sold meat to the surrounding towns including Edenderry, Rathangan, Allenwood, Clonbulloge, Enfield, Kinnegad and Rhode. The collection includes ledgers, cash books, stock books, daily order books and van sales books. There are also documents regarding financial accounts such as bank account books, customer account books, bills of account with local traders, Dublin traders and a trader from Manchester. Also includes documents of their accounts with other businesses and legal costs as well as personal family photographs. A note in ledger P1/C/17 from 1923 recounts that Judge Wakely's house, Ballyburly, near Rhode, was 'burned by irregulars' in 1923.<lb/><lb/>Individuals and businesses that had an account with Patrick Moore &amp; Sons include:<lb/>Coopers &amp; Bailey, Central Market London.<lb/>H.M. Hawkins, Seifond, Dorchester.<lb/>Doctor Hamilton, Edenderry.<lb/>E.J.B. Nesbitt, Rutland Gate, London.<lb/>E.J.B. Nesbitt, Penton Lodge, Andover.<lb/>D. Alesbury.<lb/>Civic Guards, Edenderry.<lb/>J. Joly, Clonbologue.<lb/><lb/>Patrick Moore &amp; Sons had accounts with:<lb/>William Bros, Edenderry (Grocery Account)<lb/>M.J. O'Brien, Edenderry.<lb/>William Bros. (Petrol Account)<lb/>Offaly County Board of Health and Public Assistance.</p>

      <p>The collection was arranged into 24 series in the 1990s and each item was given a sequential number. The series headings in order are; General Ledgers (P1/1-9), Ledgers (P1/10-14), Cash Books (P1/15-17), Stock Books (P1/18-19), Daily Order Books (P1/20-35), Van Sales Books (P1/36-64), Day Books (P1/65-100), Bank Account Books (P1/101-112), Customer Account Books (P1/113-125), Local Traders (P1/126-130), Dublin Traders (P1/131-136), Manchester (P1/137), Legal Matters (P1/138-139), Family Papers (P1/140-145), and Other Financial Matters (P1/146).</p>
