      Note

During the Civil War, the council offices at Tullamore Courthouse were destroyed on 19 July 1922 by retreating anti-treaty forces. See Minute Book 8 for Finance Committee Meetings 3 August 1922-5 October 1923 which, for reasons that are unclear, are bound in that volume. The minutes describe the level of destruction and the records which were destroyed: 'The Safe, which was in the County Council offices, and which contained Ledgers and Abstracts, Vouchers, Paying Orders, Cheques, Bonds, Bank Pass Books, etc, had fallen to the bottom of the Courthouse and when it was opened all the contents were found to have been totally destroyed, being burned into ashes.'
