Charles Bolton Johnston (1802–1872), son of Charles Johnston (b.1780), was born 2 October 1802. On 20 April 1828 he married Charlotte Jane Shaw (1809-1890), fifth child of Bernard Shaw (1775-1826) and Sarah Forster. From 1830 to 1851 they had nine children: Frances Sarah (1830-1908); Agnes Maria (1831-1847); Charles Edward “Boxer” (1832-1900); George; Rhoda Charlotte (d. 1839); Florence (1842-1921); Madelaine Harriet (1843-1922); and Dalkeith Holmes Plunkett-Johnston (1851-1885).
Frances Sarah Johnston (1830-1908), eldest child of Charles Bolton Johnston (1802-1872) and Charlotte Jane Shaw (1809-1890), was born 14 Feb 1830. On 14 February 1846 she married Adam Murray Steward, and they had two daughters. He died 6 November 1855. Frances Sarah Murray remarried 6 February 1858 to John Baptist Cashel Hoey (1828-1892). Frances Cashel Hoey died in 1908.
Florence Johnston (1842-1921), fifth child of Charles Bolton Johnston (1802-1872) and Charlotte Jane Shaw (1809-1890), was born 5 March 1842. She married Major George Francis Gamble (1837-1912), and they had one daughter, Cléonice Gamble (1884-1967), who in 1906 married Sir William James Norman Cooke-Collis. Major George Gamble died 22 February 1912. Florence Gamble died eleven years later on 28 February 1921.
Cléonice Gemadine Gamble, daughter of Major George Francis Gamble (1837-1912) and Florence Johnston (1842-1921), was born c. 1884. On 30 January 1906 she married Major General Sir William James Norman Cooke-Collis. They had one daughter, Katherine Patricia Cooke-Collis on 10 Mar 1907. Cléonice Cooke-Collis died on 29 December 1967.
