Scope and content

Includes:
Ongoing debates concerning the site of the new hospital at Tullamore. Proposal to site it at the disused gaol is objected to because of its distance from the convent of the Sisters of Mercy and the minister asks that a site more convenient to the nuns be found. The Board responds by stating that 'This Board is, and always has been anxious to meet the requirements of the Nuns and Clergy. The Board, since its formation has been torn asunder by conflicting interests, none of which concerned the treatment of the sick poor.' (25 October 1932)
