Ballyskenagh

Encumbered estates court rental and particulars of valuable property in King's County, consisting of the town and lands of Ballyskenagh, Lisnegerry, otherwise Lisnageeragh, and portions of the lands of Clyduff and Lower Clyduff, barony of Clonlisk, King's County.

Introductory Report 1857

Introductory report submitted by Trench to Lord Digby, following his arrival on the estate on 1 June 1857. He notes that he spent the first three weeks with his son, T. W. Trench, in Tullamore, and assessed the estate on horseback during this period. Report contains a general sketch of the natural features of the estate; the extent of arable pasture, plantations or bog; the issue of rent collection and methods of valuation; and a survey of the woodlands and their ownership. A post script to the report begins on page 48 and contains further commentary on the state and extent of schooling in the area; use of the Union Workhouse; the levels of pauperism and general notes on the cottier class of tenantry. Also includes a list of current leaseholders on the estate.

Leas of Ballylevin to William Berry

Lease of part of the lands of Ballylevin from Edward Earl Digby to William Berry for one life, or twenty-one years from 25 March 1818, at the yearly rate of £25-7-10.
Including 'A map of part of the lands of Ballylevin in the Barony of Geashill and King's County. Part of the Estate of the Right Honourable Earl Digby. Surveyed by John Molloy 1818', hand coloured, scale 20 Perches to an Inch, with bordering land leased to Sir William Cusack-Smith Baronet and Michael Malone.

Lease of Ballycrumlin to Sanders Baynham

Lease of part of the lands of Ballycrumlin from Edward Earl Digby to Sanders Baynham for three lives, or 31 years from 25 March 1825, at the yearly rate of £40-2-0.
Including 'A map of part of the lands of Ballycrumlin in the Parish of Geashill, Barony of Geashill and King's County the Estate of the Right Honourable Henry Lord Digby now in the tenure of Mr Sanders Banham. Surveyed in 1786 by Pat and John Roe', hand coloured, scale 20 Perches to an Inch, with bordering land leased to John Cutbbert, James Cooke and Owen Scully.

Lease of Annaharvey to Benjamin Odlum

Lease of part of the lands of Annaharvey from Edward Earl Digby to Michael Malone for three lives, or twenty-one years from 25 March 1818, at the yearly rate of £100-0-0.
Including 'A map of part of the lands of Annaharvey in the Barony of Geashill and King's County. Part of the Estate of the Right Honourable Earl Digby. Surveyed by John Molloy 1818', hand coloured, with bordering land leased to Reverend Mr Dowling, Samuel Pattason, Michael Rourk, Harry Smith, Thomas Tayler and James Rourk.
