Special Diet and Stimulant Book (1943)

Register recording patients names and the articles of food or stimulants allowed on a daily basis during admission in the hospital. The pre-printed template stipulates that 'All entries must be written by the Medical Officer himself.' The MO certifies by signing a declaration on each page. The items specified include: Beef, Bread, Butter, Eggs, Milk, Mutton chops, Tea, Sugar, Rice, Potatoes. The columns recording stimulants such as Brandy, Porter, Whiskey, Wine etc are repurposed for food articles such as Jam, Fish, Cocoa, and Chicken.

Letters from Dora Trench sent during Dora's time in South Africa with Benjamin Trench.

Within the letters Dora writes about her impression of South Africa. She describes the surrounding area, the flora and fauna of South Africa, Dutch farmers and the Zulu staff she encounters. The letters also discuss Dora's health. The majority of the letters were sent to Bertha Turnor, addressed as 'Tuz' and Dora signs off as "Tuz".

The front page is a copy of a letter dated 8 August 1936 from Arthur Fox in Madison, Wisconsin, United States of America, to his grandson, Ripley Fox. He notes that the book was originally given by the author, M E Stone, to Arthur Fox's nephew, William Adamson.
