        Ms letter of Joseph Dwyer Hon. Sec. of Portarlington Lighting Committee, to R. H. Moore in response to enquiries regarding the installation of electric lighting in Portarlington. He writes that the firm of Foote & Milne London had offered to install a plant of they could get 800 households to commit to installing lamps. He notes 'I would advise you to adopt our procedure as you are not putting any expense on the rates except the street lighting'(4pp). With two printed blank forms attached being a householders agreement to install electric lamps in their premises

        Typescript letter from Local Government Board of R. H. Moore member of Birr No. 1 Rural District Council stating that a Rural District Council is a local authority under The Electric Lighting Acts and that it is not necessary for them to obtain urban powers for the electric lighting of any part of their district.

        Five items of correspondence from Edmundson's Electricity Corporation regarding visit and assessment of their engineer to Banagher in connection with the installation of and supply of electricity. Letter of 5th February notes 'we would recommend putting down the Electric Lighting Station at a convenient position in the town and generating electricity by means of a gas engine'. (5pp) with estimate and attached specification of £1,275 (3pp).
        Letter of 13th February 1913 to O'Coghlan, committee member requests a further consultation and states 'we went to some trouble in this matter and trust you will bear us in mind, if it is decided to go with it'. Engineer's drawing of proposed arrangement of Plant at Banagher and Ms map of Banagher entitled 'Plan Showing Proposed Street Lamps'.

        Four items of incoming correspondence from Edward J. Owen, Director of Foote & Milne Electrical Engineers, in relation to a proposed visit to Banagher and preparation of quotation for the installation and supply of street lighting. Letter of 8th January 1813 makes a number of queries as to the population of the town and the existence of a company supplying gas and whether or not any capital could be obtained locally.
        Letter of 28th January 1913 (1p) requests a meeting with one or two members of the Electric Lighting Committee and letter of 30th June 1913 enquiries about cost of rental of the street lighting.

        Two softbound volumes containing manuscript minutes of monthly meetings of Banagher Improvement Association. Minutes relate to matters such as securing sites for a Fair-Green, improvement of footpaths, securing a weighbridge for Banagher, improvement of the rail service to Banagher (30th July 1927) and public lighting (11th November 1927). Relates also to claims for one of the new beet factories by Western and Midland Beet Sugar Factory Promoters Union, and local Relief Work Schemes (11th January 1933).

        Also includes, receipt for cost of car to Tullamore for interview with Mr Bouchier (1p).
        Letter from J. P. Bowles, Hon. Sec. of Banagher Gaelic League requesting a contribution towards the upkeep of the Gaelic Hall (September 5th).
        Includes also Letter from an [S Willington], St Kiernan's, Birr to R. H. Moore agreeing to let the Fairs Committee hold a Fair in the fairgreen in August and stating that he cannot allow the schoolboys to play football 'as it allowed other children to come in and break down fences' (2pp).
        With draft reply in the hand of R. H. Moore stating that the children 'two thirds of whom are barefoot are under my own and that of my assistant's observation' (1p).
